Local Artisan Spotlight

Eye on Eleuthera is our way of celebrating the people who create, grow, and inspire right here on the island.

Eleuthera is home to talented artists, skilled artisans, dedicated farmers, and makers who pour their heart into what they do. From handmade goods to locally grown food, these individuals help shape the character and spirit of our community.

At Mama Anita’s Farm, we believe in supporting local—because when we support each other, the whole island grows stronger.

This page is dedicated to highlighting local Eleuthera artists, artisans, farmers, and small producers who are making a difference through their craft, creativity, and commitment to the island.

Each spotlight will share:

  • Who they are
  • What they create or grow
  • Their connection to Eleuthera
  • Why their work matters to the community

Whether they work with their hands, the land, or their imagination, these are the people who help keep Eleuthera vibrant, rooted, and thriving.

We value authenticity, sustainability, and community connection. Every person featured here reflects those values in their own unique way—through tradition, innovation, or simply a deep love for the island they call home.

By sharing their stories, we hope to shine a light on the creativity and hard work that often happens quietly, behind the scenes.

Know a local artist, artisan, or farmer who should be featured—or are you one yourself?

We’re always excited to discover and support island talent. Reach out to us to be considered for a future spotlight.

Together, we celebrate Eleuthera—one story at a time.

This is more than a spotlight. It’s a celebration of community.

Spotlight on Joe Yoffa

Joe Yoffa

Jamestown, Rhode Island, USA

Mama Anita’s Farm is proud to spotlight visiting artist Joe Yoffa, whose work captures the beauty of Eleuthera’s history and natural surroundings.

Joe’s SILO series is a plein air collection of drawings inspired by the island of Eleuthera in The Bahamas—symbols of the island’s rich agricultural past. While the series officially began in January 2023, its roots trace back to family visits to Eleuthera that began in 2005.

During return visits in January and February of 2024, 2025, and 2026, Joe expanded the series to include the many cables, utility poles, and even a silo pool that create compelling contrasts against the cement structures. His work explores the interior patinas and the flora that grow freely around and within them, revealing the quiet beauty of structures many might overlook.

Rather than emphasizing the height of the silos, Joe focuses on sections — highlighting tension, light, texture, and shadow. His approach transforms familiar forms into striking compositions filled with depth and contrast.

When back home in Jamestown, Rhode Island, Joe continues developing the SILO series in his studio using photographs from his visits. He also works on other nature-inspired collections, including his current series, Mackerel and Dandelions.

Joe’s work reflects a deep appreciation for Eleuthera’s landscape, history, and understated beauty—something we are proud to share here at Mama Anita’s Farm.
